Brian and Rachel, Missionaries to Nicaragua

Both our lives were changed forever following our professions of faith in Christ. My testimony begins in 1981 when I was saved and Rachael's testimony begins when she was saved at the age of 6 years. God's plan was for us to become missionaries. The only question was where. In February of 1996 God gave us the answer of where He would have us be missionaries. He wanted us here in Nicaragua. In May of 1997 we graduated and moved to Lufkin, Texas for a two-year internship with Trinity Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Walter Futch. Trinity Baptist Church sent us on a survey trip to Nicaragua during the spring of 1999. In August of that year we started deputation in order to raise the necessary support for our ministry here in Nicaragua. December 2000 we moved to Costa Rica for Brian's formal training in Spanish. Then in February of 2002, we left Costa Rica for Managua, Nicaragua. Almost immediately we began working with a church in nearby Masaya where many were saved and baptized. That summer we led a missions group from the states that, praise God, saw over 500 people accept Christ as Savior. This same month we sought God's face for the future of Nicaragua. As we looked around the capital city of Managua for Baptist churches we became concerned. We had heard they existed, but where were they? As we drove around and saw the lack of Bible preaching churches our hearts sank. It was at this moment we felt God's urging to move on to Managua and begin God's vision, the Flagship Project.

Santuario Familiar Bautista

Following God's leading we began to build a church building in the barrio of San Judas (St. Judas neighborhood). God blessed this effort and in May 2003 we had a building and conducted our first worship service. Since then Santuario Familiar Bautista (SFB) has grown to include a mens and a ladies fellowship, a youth program and is actively supporting two foreign missionaries as well as home missions.
